Georgie Porgie, Puddin' and Pie, Didn't like links and made them cry,
When the links came out to play, Georgie Porgie ran away
This is a "dofollow" blog finder with a twist. Instead of accessing their index like a search engine, you input your keyword into a form provide by www.seo-traffic-guide.de and they automatically send you an Excel sheet with 1,000 or so URLs.
As a webdesigner and programmer I'm quite intrigued about how they managed to do this - any ideas?
It's certainly unique in that it doesn't seem to be dependent on Google API that the rest use.
The first matter of concern though is that a email address is required. Alarm bells always start to ring if it appears a service unnecessarily wants my email address but reading their privacy statement they clearly state that it will not be passed on to third parties.
When you submit a request to Do-Follow Blogs they send out the results as a email attachment and you also receive a separate email encouraging you to sign-up to their newsletter. I'm fine with this marketing approach as long I haven't been drawn into a spam trap.
The Excel sheet looks like this:

I actually really like this format as if you've ever done any serious link building you'll be aware that the use of spreadsheet to record results is essential.
However the actually quality of results are weird.
Using "press release" as the first keyword, 962 results are listed in the results list. Investigating the top five in the list it is apparent that although all are indeed about press releases none are "dofollow".
Clicking on links randomly in the list reveals that this is the same for all of them.
Where did they get this list from? How is it generated? I presume they must be using an API of a search engine to collate the results, but there really is no consideration of "dofollow" here.
Link building - another keyword I search for - returns a list 890 strong.
The first five results are link build-tastic perfect, but of those three are nofollow.
The "dofollow" entries are: Blog carnivals - a link building secret weapon and Gift & Novelty Shop Link Building - DoFollow Tuesdays.
On the traditional DoFollow scoring system this would have received 7/10 - so perhaps seo-traffic-guide.de isn't completely hopeless.
Clicking on ten links randomly in the list, two are "dofollow": Google Hates Cookie Cutter Systems and Home Business Ideas|Link Building|Free SEO Tool.
Third up is "RSS directories". Seo-traffic-guide.de spits back an Excel sheet with only 37 results this time and as before their are all extremely topical but where are the "dofollows"? A couple of examples from the list are: RSS Channels and Directories Where You Can Submit Your RSS On and Medical RSS Directories.
Last but not least I enter "history websites" into Do-Follow Blogs and receive a list of six on spreadsheet back.
My conclusion of Find Do-Follow Blogs is that it is weird. But - and a big BUT - it does loudly declare its beta status in the title. And I really can't be that harsh to a free beta service.
Give it a go and report back on what you find.
Over and out - for this post anyway.
