Complete List of Blog Directories - Part One
There are a number of directories in existence that cater exclusively for blogs. The list below details 20 of these directories.
All the sites included in this list, bar one, have high editorial standards - just because they don't have public submission guidelines doesn't mean they accept anything.
If you have a MFA (Made for Adsense) blog or a new blog with just one or two posts then you are wasting your time submitting to them.
Some of these directories require a submitted blog to be in existence for at least three months and to have been regularly updated in that time.
My advice, is that if you are starting a new blog then update it at least weekly for six months and then start submitting to these services.
Every directory below is free to submit to, although many offer enhanced features and positioning for money.
There are some great paid blog directories out there but they deserve a separate list which I'll compile sometime in the future.
Most of sites listed don't link out with straight "dofollow" links, but use redirects or the nofollow attribute; which is really lame for editorially-approved sites.
I've examined them as so: The year the site was created; the exact number of pages indexed in Google; the number of backlinks to the domain as recorded by Yahoo; the Google PageRank of the homepage; whether the links are "dofollow", nofollow or a redirect; Quantcast data, if any; whether there is any editorial policy or whether they accept anything, and I also checked the index for gambling, pharmacy and porn sites to see if they link out to loads of low-quality spammy rubbish sites.

I receive several emails a week inquiring why weblogs are not yet showing up. I'm not always able to answer these emails individually, and have updated the FAQ with a section that may answer the question "I submitted my weblog a while ago, so why isn't it listed yet?" It's possible that it could be for one of the reasons listed below:
1. The site submitted is a .rss or .xml page. Globe of Blogs is not a feed aggregator. (If your site has a .rss or .xml feed that's fine, just please don't submit it as your listing.)
2. The site submitted is a commercial site with no weblog content.
3. The site submitted does not contain any weblog content.
4. The site submitted has one or fewer weblog posts.
5. The submission was incomplete -- usually an invalid URL.

Commercial blogs are fine, but they must be "fun and useful." Because of the huge amount of robot-generated blogs being submitted, blogs with the following will not be approved for listing: Acne, Mesothelioma, Real Estate, Lawsuits, Insurance, Gambling, SEO, Web Marketing, Medical Procedures and Enlargements, "Profit from Home", the boring Financial ones (you know who you are). Blogs submitted as "non-commercial" that are clearly commercial will also be rejected. If your commercial blog is on one of these topics, it better be very good. All submitted commercial blogs will be reviewed.

The membership is free and is for blog authors only. You are not allowed to sign up with someone else blog and/or with sites that are not blogs.
You are not allowed to use bad language in your site title or description. Blogs that do this will be warned, changed and/or even removed from the database without any warnings. Don't use capitals in the wrong way and don't use other characters to try to get more attention in the list. Your blog must be placed in a category that fits the subject of your blog. Blogs that don't follow this will be moved and deranked (score set to zero). You are also not allowed to use computer bots to get a better score. Blog Directories
The backlinks from blog directories should be combined with the backlinks from the articles submitted to article directories (on topics closely related to your blog's most important keywords).
A properly developed backlink program will deliver far more targeted traffic to your blog due to its impact on the search engines than due to the actual directory links themselves.

Since I update this list weekly there are now 451 entries listed with NO DEAD LINKS.
Try to submit to 3-5 directories PER DAY. This discipline will pay big dividends over the long run.

When I saw your submission my first reaction was negative. When I came to review my eyes almost crossed (to busy for my tastes but those things are so subjective) but once getting used to that I found the content very good. So much so that in addition to approving your submission you have been given premium status for 6 months.
Off to take a closer look at your blog directory list and hopefully pick up some tips on how to make my effort better.
